Sometimes I (and perhaps you do as well) think I know a person. I may have spent time with a person and I may assume that I know that person well. But I don’t! A recent experience brought this to mind. Sitting in on the first pre-Cursillo meeting in Fairview recently I listened to the Rollos as they were being work-shopped. As one of the Rollistas shared the story of his life, its ups and downs, his past and his present, his triumphs and defeats, I was awestruck. I never knew what made up his life. I never really knew this person. This is a good lesson for me. I short-change my neighbour when I presume to know what is in fact unknown. I must always leave space, maybe even lots of it, for the mystery of another’s life. What I don’t know about a person is most likely that part of their life where God has been most active.
On a different note ... this winter has seen some important changes to our Cursillo family in the archdiocese. We welcome some new weekend spiritual directors: Sr. Louise Vanderploeg and Sr. Mary Jeanne Davidson (both in Peace River); Fr. Mark McGee (in Grande Cache) and we welcomed back Fr. Albert Sterzer (in Grande Prairie). We have also seen Fr. Tom Shymko move from Dawson Creek to Prince George. One quite noteworthy change is that our former Archdiocesan Spiritual Director Fr. Gerry Pettipas, C.Ss.R. has now been ordained and installed as our new archbishop. The Cursillo family gives praise, thanks and glory to God for the gift of our new chief shepherd and pastor Archbishop Gérard! We look forward to many years of welcoming Archbishop Gérard to our Cursillo celebrations and gatherings!
De Colores!
