FROM OUR SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR: Dear Cursillistas – sisters and brothers in Christ! Easter is forever! It is never too early or too late to wish someone Happy Easter sooooo….GLORIOUS, BLESSED AND HAPPY EASTER TO ALL As I begin to write this little note I just finished making some preparations for a weekday homily on Luke 24:35-48, the Gospel reading for Thursday in Easter week. This reading is an account of the appearance of Jesus to the apostles on the night of the resurrection. Fr. Mark Link comments that in this appearance Jesus underscores three things: 1) the reality of the resurrection, 2) the necessity of the cross, and 3) the urgency of the task to proclaim the Good News. At the end of Gospel Jesus calls the apostles to be his witnesses to all nations. It occurred to me that Jesus is asking the same thing of us. If during a Cursillo weekend or maybe even at some other time, we have come to realize the necessity of the cross to experience resurrection, we too should feel the urgency to proclaim the message and be His witnesses. Some of you have already written a witness talk and possibly given it at an Ultreya or in a Rollo you have been asked to prepare. I would like to encourage everyone, however, to give some thought to preparing your own personal Good News message on how the Lord has worked in your life. Think about it. Your faith story may just be what some people need to hear. If you need some help with it, here’s a suggestion. In the last January Rooster I recommended the DVD series “Sharing Christ” as a way to get ready and help support Archbishop Gerry Pettipas’ initiative for Mission 2010. One of the talks in the series is about preparing to tell one’s faith story. You might find this talk helpful. If you would like to know more, get in touch.
